Brisbane Indoor Hockey League (BIHL) is a sub-committee of the Brisbane Hockey Association Inc (BHA) that was formed to co-ordinate and manage indoor hockey competitions for men, women & juniors. Brisbane has played indoor hockey since the mid 1980's at various loactions and under differing management.

Indoor hockey is a variation of field hockey with modified rules:

  • smaller playing court with sideboards;
  • reduced number of players on court;
  • no hitting the ball, only pushing;
  • the ball must be played along the ground only.

This allows participation for all players in a faster, more exciting and safer environment.

Indoor hockey is played during the field hockey off season. The Brisbane Indoor Hockey League (BIHL) commences in early October and continues through to the end of February with a break for Christmas. The BIHL competitions are played in the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kedron State High School, 34 Park Road, Wooloowin, Qld.

• Indoor Season 2020/21 - COVID-19 impact

No news to share at this point regarding Brisbane indoor 2020/21 local season. The availability of KSHS Indoor Sports Centre and any restrictions due to COVID-19 has yet to be defined - it is far too early. We are hopeful of being able to deliver a normal season starting late September.

• Junior Finals

A great weekend of exicting indoor junior hockey to complete season 2019/20.

• Senior Finals

The first night of senior finals (W3, W4 & W5) have been hard fought close contests.

Our second night of senior finals (W6, W6 & M2) was very close contests with some good hockey.

The final night of senior finals (M5, M4 & M3) again had quality close games.
