Brisbane Indoor Hockey League (BIHL) is a sub-committee of the Brisbane Hockey Association Inc (BHA) that was formed to co-ordinate and manage indoor hockey competitions for men, women & juniors. Brisbane has played indoor hockey since the mid 1980's at various loactions and under differing management.

Indoor hockey is a variation of field hockey with modified rules:

  • smaller playing court with sideboards;
  • reduced number of players on court;
  • no hitting the ball, only pushing;
  • the ball must be played along the ground only.

This allows participation for all players in a faster, more exciting and safer environment.

Indoor hockey is played during the field hockey off season. The Brisbane Indoor Hockey League (BIHL) commences in early October and continues through to the end of February with a break for Christmas. The BIHL competitions are played in the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kedron State High School, 34 Park Road, Wooloowin, Qld.

• Brisbane wins U15 Girls State Indoor Titles

Brisbane U15 girls won the state indoor titles with a hard fought 2 nil victory over Maryborough which was preceeded by a 2-1 win over South Brisbane Vipers in the morning semi final. Congrats to the team. Brisbane # 2 team finished 4th in Div 2 and Brisbane # 3 team finish 6th in Div 2.

• Brisbane wins U13 Boys State Indoor Titles
A hard fought tournament saw Brisbane # 1 team win the state titles with a 3-1 win over Mackay in the Final. Our # 2 team was placed 8th in Div 2. Congratulations to all with a big thank you to the parents, players, coaches & managers.
• Brisbane wins U13 Girls & U15 Boys State Indoor Titles

Another double celebration at the weekends indoor state titles with our Under 13 girls winning Div 1  and the Under 15 Boys also winning Div 1. Congratulations to all our teams, players, coaches & managers for your efforts to make it an enjoyable weekend.

• Brisbane wins both Super 6 State Indoor Titles

Brisbane 1 def Brisbane 2 in the men's Super 6 final over the weekend to claim the cash, with Brisbane 3 respectively 5th. The Brisbane women also won over Ipswich. Well done to all involved.

• Brisbane wins both Under 18 State Indoor titles

Both our # 1 teams were undefeated in the pool games, then continued their good form into the Final. Both finals were hard fought with great indoor hockey on display, the girls getting up in a shoutout and the boys up 6-5. Our second teams enjoyed limited success in a strong competition, but it provided good development and character building for the players to build upon. Well done to all involved.
