Late yesterday we were advised by KSHS management that whilst demolishing the music blocks (Blocks I & J) additional and unexpected asbestos was found in the floor under the carpet. Outcome has been an immediate stop to the demolition work, specialists commissioned to start wrapping / securing the building in preparation for removal. This removal process is expected to take 6-8 weeks with work to be completed on the weekends (all day Saturday and Sunday) being outside school hours. In terms Qld Dept. of Education policies, only approved work contractors are allowed on-site during these works – thus the school will be closed off all weekend.

In association with the school, we have explored potential alternatives to continue our planned junior indoor season to no avail. Therefore, regretfully we have no option but to unfortunately call a cease to our Junior Indoor Season for 2024/25.

What does this mean for teams / divisions: -

·       Saturday teams (J9-J12)

o   No fixtures this Saturday & beyond.

o   A 50 % refund of paid team fees given only half the season was played.

o   No Premiership & Runner up medals to be issued.

·       Sunday teams (J1-J8)

o   No more fixtures.

o   A $ 200 refund on paid team fees given 2 grading games & 8 rounds were played with only 2 rounds & finals remaining.

o   Premiership & Runner-up medals to be awarded based on current ladder positions.

Both BIHL & KSHS management apologise for this unexpected and sudden end to our junior season caused by matters outside our control or influence.

Over the coming weeks into February, we will liaise with team contacts to finalise the about matters asap. We appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.
